For Nurses and Allied Health Staff

PEPA may be a great opportunity for you to gain knowledge, skills and experience in the palliative approach to care.

Many nurses and allied health staff care for people with life-limiting conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, end stage organ failure, cancer, cystic fibrosis or severe dementia.

If you work in the primary health setting supporting patients with these types of conditions, then PEPA may provide you with further skills and experience to improve your care for patients.

PEPA includes:

  • funded clinical workforce placements up to ten days with a specialist palliative care service within a metropolitan or larger provincial service
  • a planned activity that you implement in your own workplace within three months of completing the placement
  • establishing networks to assist you in your own practice with people with life-limiting conditions.

Allied Health Workshops

Some states are offering workshops for allied health staff in metropolitan and regional areas; for those who may be unable to attend a clinical placement.

Financial support may be available to assist you undertake this education program.
