Janeen Foffani - NSW PEPA Manager

Janeen comes from an administrative background and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Health Service Management.   Janeen has worked in the health sector since 1990, initially with Medical Oncology and then moving into the Palliative Care sector.   Janeen has been involved both formally and informally in a diverse range of projects and events throughout her working life.  She joined PEPA NSW in December 2005.

Janeen is a member of the Palliative Care Association, NSW.  She is also an Executive Committee member of the Sydney Institute of Palliative Medicine (SIPM) with a particular interest in the Registrar Recruitment/training and the annual Symposium arms.

Cindy Paardekooper - NT PEPA Manager

Cindy is a descendant of the Kokatha Tribe of South Australia. Cindy grew in Alice Springs and began working as an Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer in Acute Medical and Child and Maternal Health at Royal Darwin Hospital where she furthered her experiences in the Palliative Care field. In 2008, Cindy joined the PEPA team as the Senior Aboriginal Health Educator in NT. Two years later and Cindy is now NT PEPA Manager.

Angela Bresnehan - TAS PEPA Manager

Angela is a registered nurse, has a Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care, Flinders University S.A. and a Diploma of Business Management. Angela has worked as a clinical nurse for the Community Palliative Care Service in southern Tasmania for the past 9 years. More recently Angela has worked as a Professional Development Coordinator for the service and has been involved in facilitating and presenting palliative care education for primary providers and for the specialist palliative care team. Angela has been involved with PEPA Tasmania since June 2006.

Ellen Sheridan - VIC PEPA Manager

Ellen has been the Victorian PEPA Manager at the Department of Health since September 2006.  She is also involved in a number of other Victorian palliative care projects including Aboriginal palliative care.  Ellen has clinical and project management experience in both palliative care and oncology.  She has a Master of Public Policy and Management, and Bachelor degrees in social work and criminal justice.

Kathy Parr - WA PEPA Manager

Kathy trained as a registered nurse at the Royal Free Hospital in London & emigrated to WA in 1982. Kathy has extensive experience in many areas of nursing & has specialised in Palliative Care for 10 years. Kathy has gained experience as a palliative care nurse both in the community & inpatient setting. She joined the PEPA team in 2007.

Peta Jackson - SA PEPA Manager

Peta is passionate about raising the profile of palliative care for Aboriginal people. She is currently in her third year of a Degree in Nursing. Peta's current qualifications include a Diploma of Enrolled Nursing, a Diploma of Aboriginal Health and Management and a Certificate IV in Government "Leadership for Aboriginal Women".

Since Peta has been with SA PEPA, the SA Aboriginal PEPA Project has earned the SA Palliative Care Patron's Award and the SA Palliative Care Education Award.

Kathy Laurent - QLD PEPA Manager

Kathy has a clinical nursing background in a wide variety of settings. She has also studied psychology up to a post-graduate level and has worked on several nursing and psychology research projects at a Project Management level at the University of Southern Queensland. In her previous position at Blue Care, she was responsible for identifying the gaps in the palliative care services in the Brisbane area and worked collaboratively with individuals from several organisations to develop a model of palliative care volunteering to fill that gap in services. She has been working on the PEPA project since January 2007. She continues with an interest in palliative care volunteers and their training as well as the areas of grief and loss and spirituality when working with palliative clients.

Prof. Patsy Yates - Project Director

Patsy is jointly appointed as Professor of Nursing with the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation at Queensland University of Technology, and Director for Queensland Health’s Centre for Palliative Care Research and Education, a statewide service that was established to enhance palliative care services in Queensland through education and research. As Director for the Centre, Patsy leads a range of programs focused on developing workforce capacity in palliative care, researching priority issues in palliative care, and strengthening the nexus between research, policy and practice.

Natasha

Natasha Myers - PEPA National Coordinator

Natasha has been appointed as PEPA National Coordinator to promote, network, liaise and manage PEPA at the national level.  Natasha is responsible for developing and maintaining supporting policy, guidelines and management documents to ensure best practice for the implementation of PEPA in all jurisdictions. 

Natasha brings to this position experience in Human Services, Public Health and Project Management.  With a Bachelor of Health Science (Public Health) and a Diploma of Human Services she is passionate about health and human rights.  Her industry experience includes Youth Work (Department of Families), Research Support (The Cancer Council Queensland), International Project Management (School of Public Health, QUT) and Senior Research including the writing of grant submissions (School of Public Health, QUT and the National Centre for Classification in Health, QUT).  Furthermore she has several years of experience coordinating and facilitating community groups for young women and families.

Dr Vinesh Oommen - Senior Project Officer

Vinesh has years of experience in the field of health promotion, public health, community development, research and health policy development.  Vinesh has worked at a senior level in the Eastern Mediterranean Region giving strategic advice to many government and non-government organisations and has also worked with the World Health Organisation as a consultant. Vinesh has previously worked as an academic and also as a project manager with the School of Public Health, QUT.
